  • Polyurethane crack injection is far more flexible than creosote so it can flex and repair concrete floors with the crack as it opens and closes. Creosote is rigid, thus will eventually break away from the crack. Polyurethane’s chemical properties are much better than creosote, resulting in very little flammability compared to creosote. It has a much lower vapor pressure than creosote, meaning that there is no hazardous vapor created during its application or use. This makes for an excellent indoor crack injection application when done properly using any modern equipment designed for this purpose by qualified applicators. Polyurethane hardens to a hard solid state once it is catalysed with Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide. It can’t be softened or removed as creosote can if it is improperly done, thus making the job last longer and perform better than creosote. Polyurethane will permeate through a variety of materials including brick and masonry materials, unlike creosote which does not easily penetrate these materials because all it does is coat them and flake off with time. This means that polyurethane has proven to outlast creosote by years in injection applications.
  • Many customers using various products such as “wood injectors” for injecting creosote into older WDCC’s have been sorely disappointed to later find that the application did nothing more than temporarily seal the crack (which opened again soon after). In fact most buildings actually need this type of professional injection work whether they are sound or not. It is much more common that a building is in fine condition but has experienced water intrusion through cracking in the exterior brick and mortar which needs to be properly corrected with an injection process to permanently seal it from further damage.
